Friday - April 2

Friday apologizes for the fact that her video suddenly gets quieter half way through.

I really like this video. It feels like a real conversation. :)

I don't think lack of pain is automatically a sign of being distant from God, but ... I kind of think that I should ask God for pain, and opportunities to be made more holy, if I want to seek him. Maybe, it's not about putting ourselves into painful situations, but being open to pain coming to us, and choosing righteousness rather than ease in things that are happening right now. (I'm saying this more to explain my own life than to answer your question. Because I like your answer.)

This was a great video. We seem to have a lot of similar experiences... at this point, your videos are the ones to which I can most relate. It's neat! :D

I have also been wondering this. On one hand, I should be thankful when I experience less pain, because pain is not necessarily "of God" in the purest sense. I mean, yes it is, but God does not ultimately want us to experience pain. We must experience it now, but under his plan, we are not meant to experience it forever. Love, however, is more "of God" (this is not the phrase I want to use, but I'm having difficulty coming up with a better one). We experience love now, and under his plan, we are meant to experience it forever.

So, God does not want us to experience pain, the part that hurts, as you so aptly put it. ;) But he wants to experience the things that pain can bring about. Thus, in order to be more like God, we must desire more of what pain can bring about, which, for the moment, means accepting pain. Not only pain that can change us for the better, but pain that is a byproduct of being changed (persecution).

That's a tough question, but it was a great answer. It helped me think about things a little more completely than before.
