Slightly related quote: ". . .we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies." [Romans 8:23]

About what your pastor said: Yes! Exactly! This is one of the things that I've been on about! I think one of the reasons I've been so interested in mind/body dualism is because the idea of the mind and the body being united reveals the meaning in the body, or makes it matter, because it's a realm meaningful, beautiful part of us.
I think it's pretty clear that our bodies are sacred . . . but what does that mean? I don't think that tattoos or piercing or things like that are wrong . . . because I don't see the bible discussing it that much or having much to say about the issue. The bible does talk about sexual sin being almost a worse sin because it is a sin against our own bodies, and I think that might be a good area where there's a clear meaning to the body being a temple of the Holy Spirit and how to not desecrate the body. Hum . . .
A Year Of Questions is a project begun on March 22, 2010, by seven teens who want to be better at asking questions and articulating answers. This blog exists to make it easier to discuss these questions (because a 500 character limit on YouTube comments is rather limiting). Enjoy!
