This vlog reminded me of a song by Steven Curtis Chapman "Sometimes He comes in the clouds"
These are the places I was so sure I'd find Him I've looked in the pages And I've looked down on my knees I've lifted my eyes in expectation To see the sun still refusing to shine, but...
[Chorus:] Sometimes He comes in the clouds Sometimes His face cannot be found Sometimes the sky is dark and grey But some things can only be known And sometimes He comes in the clouds
Sometimes I see me, a sailor out on the ocean So brave and so sure as long as the skies are clear But when the clouds start to gather I watch my faith turn to fear, but...
[Chorus:] Sometimes He comes in the clouds Sometimes His face cannot be found Sometimes the sky is dark and grey But some things can only be known And sometimes He comes in the clouds
Sometimes He comes in the rain And we question the pain And wonder why God can seem so far away But time will show us He was right there with us, and...
[Chorus:] Sometimes He comes in the clouds Sometimes His face cannot be found Sometimes the sky is dark and grey But some things can only be known And sometimes He comes in the clouds
Being so people-oriented can sometimes backfire in that it makes us think that people "need" us, us in particular, more than they actually should. And it makes us feel down, like you've been feeling, and like I have many times after realizing that my friends have lives outside of me.
"I'm not needed particularly to enhance anyone's life."
I think you're mistaken there. I think that you do enhance the lives of your friends. The only mistake is in thinking that they can't live apart from you. That's God's place, not yours. Obviously. ;) As you've been realizing for yourself, "Once you get in tune with God loving you, it's not at all hard to love people, because you don't need them anymore."
People need you to love them that way, not needing them, but loving them out of a motivation that comes from being loved by God. I think you're on the right track with your answer. :)
A Year Of Questions is a project begun on March 22, 2010, by seven teens who want to be better at asking questions and articulating answers. This blog exists to make it easier to discuss these questions (because a 500 character limit on YouTube comments is rather limiting). Enjoy!

Been there! :P More times than I'd care to count.
